Burn Blue Sky

A New Way...

A bit of a new way of doing things on this record. For Burn Blue Sky though, lots has changed since Celebrate the Decline, so its not unexpected. Stone has made the move to Maryland. Like for real... He's not coming back. So we had to find a new way to rehearse. And write. And record... And do shows! We've managed to pull it off pretty well I think. And I hope you will to! This new album is, in my opinion, my favorite Burn Blue Sky effort so far. Godzimoth. Have you heard the title track yet? We squeezed it in a live set or two late last year.

So when it came time to track, we enlisted Ben Vehorn at Tangerine Sound Studio in Akron. We laid the drums down over a weekend in the summer of 2014. Yup. A long time ago. Then, in our typical fashion, we set out playing shows and slowly tracking other parts when we had time, only now, Stone is in Maryland. Logistics. Good stuff. So, Mike and I tracked our guitars and bass respectively here at Dimmworks Studios, and Stone did his guitars at his home studio in Maryland. In the interim, we parted ways with our singer Ben. That's a little wrench in the works. A little pause while a search for a new frontman ensued. But a frontman we found in Jeff Fahl. Pretty lucky. Not only a great metal vocalist, but one of my greatest friends. Nothing makes me happier than jamming in a band full of my brothers. Literally. Sappy tangents aside...

So now mixing. Where to? We've worked with Jeff Seelye on our previous two albums, but now he's moved as well. It's like herding cats sometimes, but we finally have all of the tracks to his studio, Dig It Audio, in NYC. We're really happy with the mixes so far. We're late in the game here. The home stretch. Mastering is about all that remains to do... and artwork.

David Wilson from Downpour Creative is taking the helm here. Our first time bringing in outside help for the artwork (and the new Godzimoth video! Stay tuned!) and we couldn't be happier. Sneak peek?

So yes, friends. The time is near. Stay with us here and on our social media for the latest news. 2016 is gonna be a big year for us! New album. New singer. New video. New shows in new places. A new way...
